Welcome to Healing Lotus Massage!

I am a licensed massage therapist working in the Des Moines area since 2012. My main focus is stress relief, injury prevention, pain management, and recovery bodywork.  My business exists where sports massage and energy work meet. By blending specific stretches with relaxation techniques, clients can recover in a peaceful environment. Recovery work can be a truly healing experience. Massage directly affects the physical body and can also impact our emotional, intellectual, and spiritual selves. I strive to bring joy and balance into my practice by blending my passion for massage, music, and martial arts.

I am a Grammy award winning classically trained musician. Having a love of music has taught me how healing it truly is. As a certified sound therapist I use Tibetan singing bowls, tuning forks, and chimes to create vibrations on and around the body. The different frequencies and tones correspond with specific areas in our bodies opening up space for tension to leave the body.

I am a certified Tai Chi instructor with the Wushu Institute of Des Moines. I've been practicing Wushu and Tai Chi since 2005 and have been teaching Tai Chi since 2007. I demonstrate at Celebrasian and the Harvest Moon Festival in the Spring and Fall. I teach classes every Monday and Wednesday evening in Urbandale.  Like massage, Tai Chi has many health benefits that can greatly improve ones daily lifestyle.

I am also committed to making environmentally conscious skin care products by designing, handcrafting, and building a vegan skin care line called Lotus Box Designs. I've been making soap since 2004 and I very much enjoy finding new scent combinations and ingredients to use. I also make various scrubs, balms, bath bombs, candles, and more. I've gained an understanding of essential oils that I put into my massage practice. I continue to build upon that knowledge and love being able to share my essential oil blends with clients.
